That's something I learned away back in the late 1950's early 1960's, and FREQUENTLY DID, to make the eggs so super squishy that I could HEAT an old milk bottle (with a neck a lot smaller than the egg/s) and then allow the egg to sit on the top of the open bottle (after smearing some butter around the inside edge of the bottle, to allow the air inside to cool and thus SUCK the squishy egg, right down into the bottle, until the cold outside air could be sucked in as well)

It was always a fun thing, to see my friends & cousins, try and figure out HOW the egg got inside and see them either "break the egg" trying to prise it out, or simply break the bottle in frustraion - without getting the egg out without breaking either the egg or the bottle.

I learnt that trick from my Mum (bless her as she died back in 1994 aged 78)
She had learnt it from her Granddad, who was Baden Powell's friend during the Boar War, and they "both" talked of creating an activity for boys who usually got into trouble, as they had nowhere & nothing to do.
Hence together, they wrote back & forth between NZ & the UK, until they had "nutted out" the basics and rules, for BOY SCOUTS to be formed in both NZ & the UK at about the same time.
Mum had kept the original copy of one of Baden Powel's letters, but after her death - my dad tossed away a lot of her stuff, that letter included.
So the "link" between myself & Baden Powel's "best KIWI friend, who also started Boy Scouts here in NZ, has long since disappeared.
My great Granddad did though, create a similar group for girls (as he had four of them) when his youngest daughter Muriel, asked him to create something for her friends and herself.
Thus the NZ Girls "Peace Scouts" was formed, which later became (and thus was dissolved into) the Canadian Girl Scouts movement.
Hence the NZ Contingent were thereafter known as Girl Scouts, which was later to become Girl Guides, during the international move to rename them under the Powel theme of "guides", (being regarded as a better name for them.
Read something you may NEVER have read - which explains a lot.
I know as I am the Great Grandson - of: David Cossgrove - better known as:
Lieutenant Colonel David Cossgrove, (1852–1920) of the New Zealand Army, who served in the South African War – also known as the Second Boer War – with Robert Baden-Powell, founder of Scouts and Guides in the United Kingdom.
Cossgrove (also spelled Cosgrove and Crosgrove on official documents) took Baden-Powell's ideas back to New Zealand with him and began similar programmes in Christchurch.
