I’m a little bummed out that Tanjiro’s ability to empathize was never super capitalized on. It’s the whole reason why Nezuko was able to fight off her demonic impulses, how he was able to convince the others to spare her and have faith in his goal, I mean DEMONS cried because of him, there was a lot of setup imo in painting the demons as sympathetic.

Akaza's backstory hurts me the most. He got a second chance at living a life he can fully enjoy, but it was all taken away by some jealous assholes.

Akaza and Kokushibo are my favourite Upper Moons. Akaza and Kokushibo’s backstory is unrivalled, Akaza singlehandedly bodied 67 Fighters by himself (as a human) and Michikatsu was the 2nd Strongest Demon Slayer after Yorrichi. After knowing Akaza’s backstory I stopped hating him for killing Rengoatku. But Kokushibo was always jealous of his brother Yorrichi who had a stronger breathing style and had more raw talent.

Some of the Demon Moons have backstories that are legit tragic or completely psychotic. But the demons I sympathize with the most are Rui, Daki, Gyutaro, and Akaza. Even the Drum Demon. They didn't deserve the treatment and harshness that life gave them.

Fun fact: Gyokko is the only Upper Moon Demon that doesn't have a way to protect his head once it's been cut off unlike the other Upper Moons (Only counting the OG Upper Moons)

Just a reminder:
If upper moon 6 gyutaro hadn't decided to play with tanjiro and instead kill him, tengen, inosuke, and zenitsu would fail to kill gyutaro and daki and die.
If upper moon 5 gyokko decided to kill muchiro instead of just trapping him in the water prison, he would end up helping upper moon 4 hantengu kill mitsuri, tanjiro, genya, and nezuko
If upper moon 4 hantengu had just decided to transform at the beginning of the fight, he would've easily killed tanjiro, genya, and nezuko
If upper moon 3 akaza hadn't decided to kill himself, he would've killed tanjiro+ giyu
If upper moon 2 doma didn't decide to play with inosuke+ kanao and instead killed them, he would survive against the poison as his immune system would find a way to nullify the poison (he only died because he was weakened by the poison+ his head got chopped off by inosuke+kanao)
If upper moon 1 kokushibo decided to go serious, he would've killed gyomei+sanemi+muchiro+genya easily

After akaza killed the peoples from the dojo the situation was regarded as a demon attack but when muzan went to see him he said “you aren’t a demon at all” and probably was so fascinated he changed him

Whats badass is that, Muzan sought after Akaza because, he heard rumors of a demon in an area where he had no demons placed, all because he merked all those swordsmen barehanded.

In my opinion I feel like Akaza could have been the main character of his own anime if they didn't poison the well

The way I went from hating Akaza to sympathizing with him showed how amazing Gotouge has become with story telling. When you find out that

1) he never actually accepted Muzan’s offer.
2) Even though Muzan erased his memories, but he retained enough of his humanity to not only dedicate his style to his master, but to not kill women because of his fiancée
3) He had the chance to become the second hardest demon to kill after Muzan by making it so that only the sun could kill him, but chose to die instead

Akaza is easily one of the best villains. Not every anime only fan will have a change of heart because Rengoku is so beloved, but I think a lot will at least sympathize with him. Either way, I’m excited to see it animated

Fun fact, the Uppermoons actually symbolizes the Seven Deadly Sins (not the anime tho). Kokushibo is Envy, jealous about his brother and wanting to get stronger by becoming a demon. Douma is Pride, always thinking that he's better than almost everyone and he wasnt even serious while fighting Kanao, Inosuke and Shinobu because he thought he could win. Akaza is Wrath, due to his backstory, its really makes sense that he's wrath. Hantengu is Sloth for not doing anything and only expecting that his clones would always do everything for him. Gyoko is Gluttony, he stuffed dead bodies on his vases and eats them. To Gyutaro is Greed, he is always jealous about people and wants it like how handsome Uzui is. And last is Daki which is Lust, and do i need to explain myself?

I dont know abou Kaigaku or Nakime but i think Kaigaku is like Greed too.
