The problem with most open world games is that they are as vast as an ocean but as shallow as a puddle. With lots of busy work, like collecting 100 of some item, this has been most Ubisofts open world games.

I've been addicted to the Star Wars: Outer Rim board game recently, so I'm cautiously interested in a Star Wars game where you can play as a scoundrel. Outlaws doesn't seem like it will blow anyone away, but if it's a fun game about exploring the Star Wars galaxy then that's all I'm really asking for.

They should have made it that you can play as more characters like a jedi, sith, bounty hunter, a wookie would also be preety neat but anyways great video as always

I agree with you saying that you don't necessarily need to play as a Jedi/Sith/Force user to have a good game, as Star Wars The Old Republic allows you to choose to play as a Smuggler, Imperial Agent, Trooper, or Bounty Hunter, alongside Jedi and Sith. And I always loved the Smuggler Storyline. So it definitely is something that can work really well.

It seems like if you’re the type of player that knows what you’re getting into with an Ubisoft open world title you’ll probably get what you expect. Ubi games in recent years (goty nod to Odyssey aside) have basically been the summer blockbuster popcorn flicks or junkfood of gaming. You don’t go in expecting 2005 era Ubisoft or a masterpiece, you go in expecting an entertaining game that you can kind of shut your brain off for.

My only worry is this is Ubisoft Massive. They have beautiful engine tech, and I do like The Division. But Avatar’s open world design and story left a lot to be desired. Despite being absolutely stunning visually. Maybe that’s just a limitation of the IP (I don’t really care for bow combat being the primary means of combat and it’s why I didn’t vibe with Far Cry Primal either). But this isn’t Montreal or Quebec and Massive still has to make a name for itself in the single player space. Expectations are not sky high, and hopefully it at least delivers on the relatively low bar I’ve set for it.
