Sooooo........what are the differences between Computer Engineering and Software Engineering? Are they the same thing?

In this video, we talk about these two fields and discuss the differences between them. Yes, they are different, however, with the magic of a Computer Engineering degree, you can decide to become a Software Engineer if you want. This video explains how and why and will, hopefully, help shed some light on what exactly Software Engineering is.

Please let me know if you have any other suggestions in the comments below and, as always, if you liked this video and want to see more then please like, subscribe and share! :)

I have an EE degree and studied computer engineering and CPU design and it drives me nuts when people confuse what I learned with being a computer programmer... I mean one is on a very low level, and on is very high level... but Computer engineering is a lot closer to what I learned than software engineering. Also most teams of designers of computer hardware and CPU's have many highly trained mathematicians and physics PhDs... it's extremely different from software engineering.

Hi Sara, I really like your videos. Yes please, if possible please make a part 2 of this video where you provide the differences between the software track vs the hardware track, I think the information will have more valuable insights because it will come from the experience of an actual computer engineer. I will highly appreciate that. Thank you.

I'm a computer engineer too! Did it straight out of high school and graduated with my bachelor's 2 years ago. And WOW, I really didn't know what I was getting into and how intensely hard it really is. A lot of all nighters and crying over those four years. I wish I would have seen a channel like yours back then. But no regrets I have an amazing job because of it and it was all worth it in the end

Hi! I saw your day in the life video and you said you worked out in the morning before going through your day. I'm wondering if you would do a video on how to balance school/work and personal time? I feel like it's hard for me to pull away from school work and do things like exercise because I feel guilty and think I'm wasting time by not doing homework or work or something.

Hey Keep up with the videos. They are helpful to those who are also going for ECE majors like me. Will you also do videos on Junior project and Senior Project and other extracurricular like HKN participations, and stuff like undergraduate research ? I am going for Junior in EE in Florida and considering utilizing the available opportunities.

I am still confused.
My Son still need a boarder line between both as he introduced for studying computer engineering abroad at Malaysia under the sector of "Electronics majoring in computer"
So he needs to know more deep difference knowledge between both. Also does the software engineering is the computer science or not???

And what is fields of work for the study he choosed to study in Malaysia under the section
"electronics majoring in computer"

Thanks a lot.

Hi! I love your videos so much! You are helping me a lot! I wanted to ask you, as a computer engineer student, what are the best masters to follow once I obtain my major? Is data science a good option? What would you recommend?

Every computer science major becomes a software engineer. Software engineer is the official title at a company. But they are also known by developer and programmer. There is no difference. Software engineers program in low level languages (Assembly) mid level languages (C, C++) and high level languages (C#, Python, Java). How low a language is depends on how much memory manipulation is needed.
