Padmanabhaswami temple,located in Thiruvananthapuram Kerala is built in an intricate fusion of indigenous Kerala style and Tamil style Of architecture.The principal diety Padmanabhaswamy is enshrined in the ‘Anantha-sayanam’ posture-in the eternal sleep of yoga nidra on the serpent Anantha.

Among the six kallaras or chambers in the temple,Bharatakkon kallara{chamber B} is the highly mysterious one and has not openeded to date. In 2011 the Supreme Court of India sent a seven member committe to the temple. In the presence of head trustee of Travancore Trust,the temples 6 secret vaults were opened.When opened, the vault contained diamond jewellery, golden utensils, weapons, golden idols, golden elephants idols and diamond necklaces and bags full of golden coins of different nations.

The chamber B is considered to be fixed to the secret chamber with the ‘naga bandham’ or ‘naga paasam’ ‘mantras’ by the then ‘sidda purashas’ who lived during the reign of king marthandavarma in the 16th century.

It is said that a door of such a secret vault can be opened by a highly erudite ‘sadhu’ or ‘mantrikas’ who are familiar with the knowledge of extricating ‘naga bandham’ or ‘naga pasam’ by chanting a ‘garuda mantra'; so except in this way, the door can't be opened by any means by anyone,no lock or any kind of that,purely locked by means of manthra, intersting huh!!!!

If any human attempts are made with man-made technology to open the mysterious Chamber-B other than by chanting highly sacred and powerful ‘GARUDA MANTRAS’ by a highly sacred ‘SADHUS’ or ‘MANTRIKAS’, astrologers and vedists predict that catastrophes are likely to occur in and around the Temple premises or through out India.Some say the kallara directly opens into the sea.The vault keeps within it enormous amount of water with its enormous force,opening it could sumberge the area nearby or the entire state or the entire nation who knows.

Another theory states that,Devas and Sages reside in Kallara B worshipping the Lord. Naga Devathas devoted to the Lord also dwell in this Kallara.

Kanjirottu Yakshi, whose enchanting and ferocious forms are painted on the south-west part of the main Sanctum, resides in this Kallara worshipping Lord Narasimha.

Holy objects like Sreechakram were installed beneath this Kallara to enhance the potency of the Principal Deity. Lord Ugra NARASIMHA of Thekkedom is said to be the Protector of Kallara B. There is a serpent's image on Kallara B indicating danger to anyone who opens it.

To date,none now in this entire universe is found to have known the naga bhandan or the naga pasam.Till that kallara B will always remain as a mystery….
