kuchisake-onna (slit mouthed woman) was told to me in primary school as a normal story and we all didnt know it was from japanease mythology thats so cool to know about after all these years

The first folk lore from what I heard was nothing like it was told in this channel. I was told that there where two poor sisters, one named (I forgot), and the other named Rin, they both starved there selfs because they had no money. One day, Rin came home super happy and she kept coming home happy for a week. The other girl started to get jealous and thought Rin was eating without her, the other girl who was filled with hunger and jealousy ate Rin. It turned out that Rin was saving up money so they could’ve eaten together happily, with the other girl filled with guild a second mouth formed on the back of her head, the mouth of Rin.

The music volume needs to be dialed back a bit. There are several points where the music swells so loud that it makes it difficult to understand what is being said. Other than that, I enjoyed this a lot.

The 'Hanako' (12:40) piqued my interest:

Why does that sound familiar? Why do I associate it with a crying ghost, a diary that 'writes back', and a giant snake that lives in a secret chamber?
