I can resonate to the other end of the spectrum here. I've did projects and never focused on DSA. However, I'm self taught from 6th standard in school, in 2006. So my basics there were good enough. In 2009 I made a tool to convert BAT files in EXEs, and by 2011 I learned Java, C++ and C# on my own. I even attempted to clone Game Maker from Mark Overmars back then. I didn't like Turbo C++ in college, so I wrote my own IDE during my second year. Primitive one, but writing GUIs in C++ was a fantastic experience, it gave me a good kick.

I contributed JNI bindings to Assimp library into LWJGL project in my 3rd year, wrote a translation layer that implements OpenAL specification for 3D Spatial Audio Playback on top of Web Audio API and even wrote my basic 3D game engine. By final year, it even got 100 stars on GitHub. My final project was the Game Maker clone I wanted to make since childhood. I went low level, and I learned to hand write 32-bit assembly using NASM and I actually learned to make sense of C calling conventions. I explored every domain, I did Web Dev, my website is written completely by me from scratch. I did backend dev, my first internship was in NodeJS and Express and I did Spring in my first job for a week before moving internally into Android.

I even did iOS as well. Having said that, I never did DSA full fledged until the last year. I never applied to big tech, but I did get plenty of callbacks from startups. In my last 5 years, I attempted 14 companies and got 12 offers. But then, I feel now, that I should've started DSA even earlier. I didn't even know it was a thing. I only found out about LeetCode after getting my first job.

So what my 5 years of experience taught me from startups, is that as long as you're learning, and you're properly showcasing your stuff in a portfolio, you'll get calls. Fun fact, until last year, I had a 3 page resume where I featured 7 projects. Open Source will help you build credibility.

Listening to Striver, I feel I also did the mistake of becoming one directional. I always thought DSA and CP will get me an intern in my third year. But here I am sitting at my house in the summers of my Third Year, when others are grinding in their interns. I did become Expert on Codeforces and 2000+ on Leetcode, but I never really did development and I realised if I had invested some time in development I could have an intern. But we all make mistakes, the good part is now I have realised it. I still have 3 more months for my placement season to begin, and I hope I can get a placement at one of the leading companies. From now on I will invest my time in DSA, CP and Development. Oh, I cant forget about the CS Fundaments.

Thanks striver for teaching and guiding us, will come back to this comment after my placements.

Please make one video of Leetcode, how to excel in contests, how to tackle the problem, how much time devote to a particular problem.

"Some say that software is boring, and others say it's not worth pursuing. After hearing all these negative opinions, I almost lost my interest in coding. However, then I stumbled upon a guy in my YouTube recommendations. I started watching his videos, and now I can say that I'm improving every day. His videos boost my confidence and inspire me.

Currently, I work at an IT startup with an average salary. I wish I had watched his videos when I was in college, but it's never too late. I will work hard to improve my skills. Thank you so much, Bhai."❤❤

Whenever I get vocal to my activities or projects, I don't know why I'd always get slower or even stops it entirely. Due to which I never shares anything nowadays even with my best friends.

These were the mistakes that i did during the 1st-2nd year of engineering but eventually I figured out the correct path. At this time we have to be good at both Development and DSA. If not pro, we have to be at moderate level in both the things.

Deployment in AWS costs as I have exhausted all the free tiers, could you please suggest some other platforms?

You are right, bhaiya. You are absolutely right!
I am in my 2nd year of college and I will accept the fact that I have been very random in learning things. I learnt basics in Python, web development (basic), I was doing a project on Linux but didn't complete it because I was keen on learning Android development and I did learn it, but it took me a lot of time . Also have participated in Google cloud campaigns . I had a hard time settling in the tier 3 college I had got so I prepared for JEE again in my first year and though it was just okay and it didn't help much, but that put a problem in the college performance in the first year. In case of DSA, I have basic theoretical understanding but I haven't coded in the online platforms.

So the crux is that I have a basic idea of a lot of things but am confident in neither. So I have been trying to learn DSA, and make my Android app and I would eventually complete on the Linux project ( I am progressing okay) but then I realised that yes, I need to speak up where I am having problems and at the same time what am I doing good at, as well. Craving perfection in mind and just doing nothing in reality makes no sense.

I need some guidance from my fellow peers as to how can I do good in DSA and more . I want to Target for internships soon as well. Can I solely focus on his (Striver's) A2Z DSA sheet? For I thought I need to recap things from basic and then proceed on it.

Open to constructive criticism as well.
