This fly did amazing for me the other week and I broke my personal record on my favourite pool: 8 consecutive casts and caught 8 fish in a row! Brilliant! Wouldn't believe it if I didn't witness it myself. Thanks for bringing this excellent fly to my attention, Davie!

I've known Ralph for decades and I've been fishing this fly for just as long. Great video and a great fly.

Great video Davie. I met Ralph Cutter who originated that fly in the Sierras of California. He was a microbiologist who spent hundreds of hours with snorkel and scuba gear observing bugs and insects. I have caught so many fish on that fly it is not even funny in a lot of different areas of the US anyway. It is a great searching fly when you are not sure what might be working. Maybe that is a confidence thing on my part, but it has done me well over the last 20 years. I like the Z lon husk per the original, but that is a great tying job on yours. Thanks for sharing. Love seeing different ways to come at the same fly from different people. Thank you.

Davie - try tying it as recommended by the originator of the fly, Ralph Cutter of California, USA. He suggested a 2 tone color scheme 2/3 brown to imitate the pupal shuck and and the front 1/3 bright green to imitate the body of the emerging adult. He mentioned in an article that this color scheme improved the catching effectiveness of the fly immensely, nicely done.

Thanks David, I use you're mouse caddis pattern for my duo dry fly, this one will be a lovely alternative. Inoffensive add a shuck to the mouse. Thanks again for being so generous with your talent. My tying has improved so much because of your videos and ideas.

There is a lot of interesting things going on with this one when you get down to it, it's just an X caddis with a few adjustments, not a bad thing. I don't know where I will find micro glint here in the states, but I do know where to get zelon. My guess anything similar will work, just don't over do it. I am thinking Olive and Grizzly hackle, it's one of my go to colors on my local stream. As usual Davie, you make tying dead stuff on a hook a real art form.

I don't have the micro glint for the shuck. It seems like about eight strands of midge flash would work as well. You are a true master, Davie. Are we going to see any fishing videos from you soon?
