Were you baptized at an early age? At a revival, Vacation Bible School, or as an infant?  Do you remember your baptism?

Maybe later on in life you rebelled or wandered away from God for so long that it was evident to you that your first baptism was not at the point of baptism and that God saved you later on in life.  If you baptism preceded your true salvation, then it was no baptism at all.  Across the Scripture baptism is always seen to follow salvation as a external picture/evidence of an internal awakening and new birth.

BAPTISM ALWAYS FOLLOWS SALVATION
Peter commanded the Gentiles (non-Jews) to be baptized when they had already received the Holy Spirit (Acts 10:47-48)“Can anyone withhold water for baptizing these people, who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?” 48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to remain for some days.

If your baptism is on the wrong side of your salvation then do not hesitate in getting baptized, not for salvation, but as an accurate picture and testimony of your salvation.
