Connect CPVC to Copper Pipe - CPVC Fittings

An easy way to connect cpvc to copper pipe is using push fit fittings. The pipe is just pushed into the fitting and the pipe locks in place. The fittings also come with a tool to remove the pipe if there needs to be an adjustment.

With any shark-bite style push fitting it's SUPER IMPORTANT to properly prepare the pipe. When these fittings fail it's almost always due to poor installation that damages the rubber "o-ring" inside the fitting. You need to 1) deburr the inside and outside edge of the pipe opening and 2) make sure the fitting is completely locked into place. Sharkbite makes a great deburring/measuring tool combo that fits all pipe sizes (it's orange and looks like a pan flute).

I have used a shark bite once in my home plumbing, and it has remained water tight for about 8 years now. I still have only used the one, and probably won't go back and just use copper or cpvc in the future despite the success.

Exactly what I need to connect my water heater pressure relief valve CPVC drain pipe to copper drain pipe. How do I remove the fitting if I have too, any special tools? Do I have to clean or sand copper pipe before connecting?

I've had two of these blow out. Put them in a wall and you're screwed, sooner or later.
