I am a handmade seller on Etsy I wanted a long sleeve cotton blouse and like to buy off Etsy to support fellow sellers, I didn’t really see anything I wanted so I went over to Amazon and there were most of them again that I had seen on Etsy ! How can this happen it makes me angry I spend so much time making my products. Etsy must do something !!

One of the first things Etsy should enforce is that every shop has to fill out all the sections about their shop and policies, before they can even list anything. While I've put tons of work into it, I see a lot of shops that have everything blank.

Seems to me like they should reverse the order of operations here…how bout they flag items and then WAIT til they are human-reviewed before they are removed?

Having been on Etsy since 2008, with almost 9000 sales, I’m finally leaving. They put my shop on “reserve” - which will hold 75% of my funds until an item ships, or up to 45 days! I have barely ever had any issues or complaints over all these years, and my business can’t function with this in place. They don’t care about us at this point.

I just scrolled through Etsy, roughly 80% of the recommended items/shops on my homepage were very clearly dropshipping/reselling
It’s frustrating and a big reason I don’t sell on Etsy anymore.

I remember when Etsy use to require stores to submit details and photos/videos of their product creation process!

I have moved my handmade business over to Amazon Handmade years ago. Not only do I no longer sell on Etsy any longer, I have also stopped shopping overthere. The amount of junk that's being sold overthere is just mind boggling.

*Talk is cheap, Etsy can talk all they want, the fact is they care about how much money they are making off these mass produce products. So, they won't be going away anytime soon.*

It sounds like they don't want to be as involved with their sellers anymore. Especially since they shut down the option to call and talk to someone??? Why would you do that??

Omg I would LOVE more barriers to entry. I have some shop trolling me, stealing my designs and then filing IP claims against ME because they got mad that I kept getting their stolen designs taken down. When the messaged me (in Thai) they admitted to having over a 100 shops (all claiming to be in the US or Europe). Contacting Etsy has been useless, they just tell me to keep submitting IP claims even though the issue is WAY larger. Hoping to see this in the future!

We don't think any listing should be removed or a shop closed before a human actually does a review. Flag first, then human review. We're all for cleaning things up but the process needs to protect the legitimate seller as well. During peak times of the year, having a listing pulled for even a few days could result in significant loss of income for a shop, especially in a tough economic year. Etsy needs to remember their first customers are their sellers.

I have the live chat. The issue is their employees generally cannot answer the questions and have to forward it.... Which leads to chaos ... I gave up on my last one and it was important. Ive completely lost faith and now accept Etsy as just another platform that doesnt care.

Hand made should be hand made...my "stuff" is bespoke but it's an easier phrase to use hand made, I can't compete with print on demand or mass production and my age verification alone must be a thorough process not a "tick box" which I find utterly futile on so many sites. Hopefully Etsy will get hold of a few measures to retain genuine makers and cull the drop shippers simply out to upscale a talentless resume.

There's many infringements on Etsy I don't understand at all how they get away with this?

I recently had a handmade item clearly made by me, deactivated by Etsy. This was a bestseller, and did not violate handmade policy. I’ve tried reaching out to Etsy, but with no response. So frustrating!

I'll beleive when I see it! I've reported several shops many times over the years and they still exist!

Aside from seller ID verification, I think they need to put a team in place that has been trained to be able to identify mass produced items. They could even recruit Etsy members in specific markets to aid them in identifying what is hand made and what is not within each market. It would make sense to me that they would review new shops at the one month mark, the 90-day mark and the 6-month mark. If they recognize that a new shop is a reseller, then they could shut them down. I know this would take a lot of manpower to handle, but I think it would send a very strong message that they're not playing about this issue.

YEAH! We choose Etsy because is for Handmade products, not another Amazon!
