I've never read someone describing a place so beautifully as Zafón describes Barcelona in The shadow of the wind and it's sequels. He is one of my faovrite authors and I can't get over the fact that he died so young, with many more wonderful books to write. :(

Pieces of Her is so good! Both the show and the book, I binge watched it when it came out.
I have read The Shadow of the Wind in 2012-ish and it wasn’t my favorite, probably because EVERYONE was raving about that book, so I had high expectations, but I also had terrible flu when I was reading it, so I am sure that it had some effect to my rating. I’d like to reread it some time, but I remember that I loved the setting.

I listened to The Hunger on audio and while in theory I really should have enjoyed the book, it just didn't do it for me. I honestly felt a little bored, which is weird to say about a book involving the Donner Party. I felt the same about The Deep by her, as well. I'm so tempted to pick up her next book, The Fervor, but I really don't think she's the author for me. I love how she pulls such cool historical elements into her books, but everything else about them just misses the mark.
