Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Harry and Dumbledore.

Amazing!
This is just like magic!

You both realize, of course...
...that in the past few hours, you have broken perhaps a dozen school rules.

Yes, sir.

There is sufficient evidence to have you both expelled.

Yes, sir.

Therefore, it is only fitting...
...that you both receive...
...Special Awards for Services to the School.

Thanks, sir.

Now, Mr. Weasley, if you would...
...have an owl deliver these release papers to Azkaban.

I believe we want our gamekeeper back.

First, I want to thank you, Harry.
You must have shown me real loyalty down in the Chamber.

Nothing but that could have called Fawkes to you.
And...
...second...
...I sense that something is troubling you.
Am I right, Harry?

It's just...

You see, sir, I couldn't help but notice certain things, certain...

Certain similarities between Tom Riddle and me.

I see.
Well, you can speak Parseltongue, Harry. Why?

Because Lord Voldemort can speak Parseltongue.

If I'm not mistaken, Harry...
...he transferred some of his powers to you...
...the night he gave you that scar.

Voldemort transferred some of his powers to me?

Not intentionally...
...but yes.

So the Sorting Hat was right.
I should be in Slytherin.

It's true. You possess many of the qualities that Voldemort himself prizes.
Determination, resourcefulness...
...and if I may say so, a certain disregard for the rules.

Why, then, did the Sorting Hat place you in Gryffindor?

Because I asked it to.

Exactly, Harry. Exactly.
Which makes you different from Voldemort.

It is not our abilities that show what we truly are.

It is our choices.
If you want proof why you belong in Gryffindor...
...then I suggest you look more closely at this.
Be careful.

Godric Gryffindor.

It would take a true Gryffindor to pull that out of the hat.

I like how instead of bluntly saying to Ron "Mr Weasly, if you wouldn't mind leaving i would like a word with Mr Potter in private" and making Ron feel excluded, he gives Ron an inportant task to grt Hagrid back.

Guy had a heart of gold.

R.I.P. Richard Harris and Michael Gambon

“Tell me Harry why did the sorting hat put you in Gryffindor?”
“Because I asked it to.”
“Exactly Harry, exactly, which makes you different from Voldemort. it is not our abilities that show who we really are, it is our choices.”
-Albus Dumbledore and Harry Potter.

I love that saying, and it’s something that I took to heart, people can be good or bad but that’s not for others to say, it is not our appearances, or other peoples opinions of us that matters, or make us who we are, it is our choices.

Ah, Sir Richard Harris... You were a brilliant Dumbledore. Your old, raspy voice held a quality of some sort of ancient wisdom through your words as though your mere speech alone was a spell cast upon us all. If only you had lived for a few more films. RIP (Gambon was great too of course)

It's a shame that Sir Richard Harris passed away before completing all the movies. It was pitch perfect casting.

Michael Gambon truly did a good job with Dumbledore, but Richard Harris was always more realistic in every way. He is meticulously neat, while Gambol’s is more shabby and lopsided. He has a voice that suits a man who is over a hundred years old, and the ‘shrewd old man’ aura that Dumbledore was supposed to have. Besides, Harris played a gentle, grandfatherly Headmaster, while Gambon played a rough, serious one.
Over all, I personally would have preferred to see Richard Harris playing Dumbledore throughout the series.

I love how Dumbledore tells Harry to be careful when he hands him the sword, when he'd just used it to kill an ancient giant snake. That was Harris telling him to be careful, like a kind old grandfather.

Always loved the bond Harry and Dumbledore shared, it is like family.

This was the first hint that Voldemort unintentionally made Harry a horcrux.

Richard Harris as a Dumbledore was really perfect. Cool, calm and quick witted...

Michael Gambon's Dumbledore was blunt and serious. Richard Harris' Dumbledore was mellow and kind. Richard Harris played a great wizard, it's too bad he didn't live long enough to see how great his character was.

2:53 One of my favourite movie quotes of all time. Only second to: "And what about side by side with a friend?".

I like how, the moment he sees Godrics name inscribed on the blade, he realizes that he truly does belong in Gryffindor.

Seriously I love Dumbledore, and this interaction between them both was so beautiful honestly❤️

Harris was better than Gambon if I'm being honest. Harris had that 'wise old man' feel that Dumbledore should have, and that he originally had in the books. Gambon you could argue was more suited to the later films that he played Dumbledore in because they were much more intense, with more intense action, and he was a bit more suited to that side of the character, but some aspects of his Dumbledore personality were not faithful to how Dumbledore is in the books, especially in Hogwarts scenes

3:24 Only true griffindor can pull that in the hat so that's why neville can also pull the sword in the hat

Harris's Dumbledore would have been far more effective for the reveal of a dark, flawed past with Grindelwald since he seemed so perfect and wise.
