Mazda has convinced Toyota to drop the 2.5L hybrid from the #rav4 into the CX-50 hybrid. Here are my fuel economy results after my first fill up at the gas station.

My 2020 rav4 hybrid limited has 66907 miles, 69% Hwy, 31% city, used 1645 gallons of gas= 40.7mpg. Not surprised that Mazda got 42+mpg.

my hisband has a 2023 RAV4 hybrid xle he brought new in January with 8 miles he drives 850 miles a week for sales he drives efficiently with the ac set on 78 on 2 bars because he gets cold easy he has 74k miles as of writing this rav4 life time mpg is 47.3 mpg and he hand calculates it every fill up and it spot on with the life time mpg he gets 630 miles per fill up every tank like clock work still has original tires and brakes just air filters engine filters every 15k miles and oil changes every 5k miles his RAV4 hybrid been great reliable and good on gas Toyota does make the most efficient hybrids if you know how to drive them right and there the most reliable hybrid too

Hoping real hard for a CX-30 hybrid with the Corolla Cross Hybrid power train or a Mazda in-house hybrid system. The Corolla Cross is built right next to the CX-50 in Alabama and the CX-50 uses the CX-30 platform. Plus with the upcoming tariffs, it makes all the sense in the world to make CX-30's in Alabama. The CX-30 desperately needs better range, much more so than the CX-50

This was my expectation from the CX-50. It's gonna be my next car when I turn in the Highlander in June. Thanks!

2023 Mazda 3 sedan is currently getting 32.5 combined MPG. I added K&N air filter and I use Costco premium gas

Waiting for my CX-50 Hybrid to be delivered, I'm being impatient!

Mazda's lane centering system is called "Cruising and Traffic Control" - it is on the Turbo but not available on any Hybrid models. Unfortunately it's almost a deal breaker for me, will probably wait to see if they add it to the 2026 models.

Love the looks of the CX-50 and everything I have read about it. Only problem, I put it into a depreciation computer and it depreciates $100 per month more than a Toyota RAV4. Love the car, but love my money more. (Used Edge automotive depreciation computer)(used new vehicle, 5 years ownership, 12, 000 miles per year, purchase price of $43, 000).

People complaining about lane centering on vehicles should not be driving vehicles. If you need something to HELP you with excruciating task of staying within the lines of a lane, then you need to be reviewing mattresses & not automobiles. A vehicles quality should not be based on its ability to help YOU the pilot stay in a lane. Get real.

Gosh Kirk, If the RAV4 Hybrid powertrain does this well in a CX-50, just imagine how well it will do in a RAV4 Hybrid. 😉

Was just quoted an out the door price of $47, 965! $10k mark up! No thanks! Mazda is pushing me into the arms of Toyota for a RAV4 hybrid!

we routinely get 30-36 mpg in our 2023 CX50 non-turbo in mixed city/country (20-45 mph type roads) in our commute and if its mainly highway we get 36-42 mpg...so this doesn't surprise me

I'm sure people here already know, but you should never top off past the first "click" at the pump. Doing so can damage the EVAP system. And yes, you need to use the same pump for both before and after fill-ups for accurate MPG results.

My 2022 Mazda 3 in-vehicle display is usually a little pessimistic when I compare to manual (tracking at fill up). My Miata with the old red bubble infotainment style is usually a couple MPG optimistic.

I love the looks of the CX-50 and love they have a hybrid offering. I just am not a fan of the outdated gauge cluster and infotainment center. It really just brings down the tone of what Mazda is trying to offer. I understand people love the knob for music and such but it’s no longer practical if Mazda supports Apple and Android car projection. If they continue with the option then the screen placement needs to be updated to be closer for use of the touchscreen as 99% of drivers will most likely use this. I’ve definitely added the CX-50 to my watch list for when my CR-V Sport Hybrid lease ends. Honda isn’t offering anything worthy of my money with its cheap feeling interior, lackluster tech in the CR-V, poor wireless charging in the top trims, seat materials, heated seats not working, poor space layout and more. It’s just not wowed me enough to keep the car. Honda missed the mark on the CR-V big time. It’s a poor car. My driver seat is falling apart in my 2023. I’m the only driver and have nobody in my other seats. They also are looking worn and falling apart. On top of the two big recalls my car has the infotainment bulletin has been a sore spot since the car lacks a workable FM tuner I can barely get my phone to connect via cord or Bluetooth. The device fails or completely shuts down during use. Honda states they have no fix and I am to deal with it but it also affects me when in reverse if it crashes I get no backup camera.

I’m getting 42.5 miles per gallon in the Toyota Venza XLE and I have a lead foot 🦶 and the Venza uses the same Power Train as the RAV4

Dude, why do I want anything to center me in my lane? I kinda think of that as un-Mazda to be minded by the car in that way. The philosophy seems to be, "help the driver make good decisions and still have some fun, " not "drive the car for the driver." Then again, I've never had a car with that tech. It might be nice on drives on the interstates, but I don't spend a whole lot of time doing that so it's not a deal-breaker for me.

Just realized that the CX50 is almost the size as the CX60. Wish the CX60 would get the inline 6 Petrol engine or this hybrid engine you tested here. Diesel or PHEV don’t suit my profile unfortunately
