How to Measure Tire Tread With a Penny (Or a Quarter)

Safe tire tread is considered over 4/32" - easiest measured with a quarter (tip of GW's head to tip of quarter). If it's less than this point, start shopping for new tires or get an appointment on the books.

If it's less than 2/32" (from the tip of AL's head to the tip of the penny), your tires are probably illegal to be on your car AND DANGEROUS! Get to the tire shop ASAP.

2/32 is the legal tire tread limit but I will always recommend to replace before any thing below 4/32 is the proper time for considering replacement and always change in pairs or full tire set
