Christian Horner is not worried about McLaren and warns about Max Verstappen's level

Red Bull boss Christian Horner has highlighted the consistency and high level of Max Verstappen in the current Formula 1 season, claiming that the Dutchman is the only driver who consistently fights for victories. Despite Lewis Hamilton breaking a three-year winless streak at the British Grand Prix, Horner was unconcerned about pressure from Mercedes or McLaren.

"I think Formula 1 is in an excellent moment right now. If you look at the last five or six races, we've had Lewis, Lando, Max and Charles. The situation is changing," Horner mentioned to the press. However, he stressed that Verstappen remains the most regular driver, consistently staying in the top places despite "conceding" wins in some races, which he didn't do last season.

"The only one who has been consistently present (at the top) is Max," Horner explained, highlighting Verstappen's ability to keep scoring points in the drivers' championship. These statements also imply criticism of Sergio "Checo" Pérez, who has not shown the same level of consistency, affecting Red Bull's performance in the constructors' championship.

Horner also acknowledged Lewis Hamilton's recent triumph, congratulating him for winning at home and for the record it represents for the British Mercedes driver. "We must congratulate Lewis on the win. He drove a very good race and was a deserved winner," he added.

"It's an extraordinary achievement for any driver to win a race nine times, and to do it in the UK, which is very special for him as a British driver, is something he should be very proud of. So we give him our appreciation. He did an excellent job."
