NSU engineer weighs in on Baltimore bridge collapse

The massive cargo ship that rammed into Baltimore's Francis Scott Key Bridge was in Hampton Roads just last week. Local engineers are waiting on the results of the Maryland investigation. Angelique Arintok got their initial reactions to the collapse.

Steel is great in suspension, not so good in compression. If each section was self supporting them it might not have dropped the whole span, just the part that was destabilized by a massive ship crashing into it.
