Det the blade of your protractor between the wings of your brvel gauge's base. The two blades will come into contact and the angle will be the same

You can just slide the protractor through the slot in the bevel gauge.

Theres also a simple tool for setting the bevel gauge called the bevel board! It's useful if you need to do this often with different angles.

You're basically using your bench as one.

That's a really interesting mechanism, with the adjustment screw on the end of the handle, I wonder how it works?

Good tip Rex! Also a protractor like that likes to slip a little too, so only referencing it once is probably the safest way to go

And a lot of times that angle gets used over and over, example, when you are cutting dovetails.

This was one of the first things I was taught when cutting dovetails.

Well, the bevel gauge has a slot in it that will allow you to insert the tongue of the protractor through. Fits nice and tight and flat and true. 😉

Rex videos get worse and worse. Just reference your bevel gauge BLADE against the protractor. Can set it 100% perfect with no drawing lines or anything else shown here.

It very easy to get the angle with the two tools if you're coordinated, and stop making it look like it's hard to do. Stop making up "useless" tips just to make a video.
