I’m no attorney but I did study a little bit of law about copyright acts.

I did some few research,
I’m guessing is that Epic Games is suing the kid not for cheating but distributing a way(showing how to hack a game) which ruins Epic Games profits.

Copyright Infringement was created back then when digital still aren’t that common yet.
DMCA(Digital Millennium Copyrights Act) a new update about Copyright Acts but this new version is about digital mostly involved internet or website and etc.

The kid didn’t really pirate anything but he did though distribute(show or did a tutorial) a way to ruin an owners profit which is showing how to hack.

Free2Play=More Players
More Players=Most could be Hackers
Hackers=Less Players
Less Players=No profits
(You get what I’m saying)

Now that could ruin Epic Games profit since it is only a Free to Play game, you couldn’t just create a good protection coding on a Free2Play game and the fact that half of it’s profits is only going on maintaining multiplayer servers.

That’s where DMCA comes in to protect owners.

Again I’m no attorney but I’m hoping this made it clear hopefully.

That's nothing. Remember when the RIAA would sue everyone from 12 year olds to deceased grandmothers over that pesky pirated music?

At least Tree of Logic bothers to hand type personalised 'thank you' emails to those who give money. Now I'm Triggered!

Mental note = Epic games, never buy. Also, multiplayer cheaters should be forced to do the game of thrones walk of shame.

The Lawful Masses With Leonard French channel is a copyright attorney. He did a big video on this.

Fun fact, I am thinking about doing a commentary about this, but I have to utilize so many research in the law.. I did research when I make my script the law gets confusing.

Remember the Pewdiepie Firewatch situation? Apparently game companies have a right if they want (and it’s very very rare) to take down a gameplay video. Now the reason why 90% of companies don’t take down gameplay videos and streams is because it’s the norm and is used for good business due to free advertising. My guess is that Fortnite is protecting its climate of the game because if you hack, it’s modifying the game code to do illegitimate tactics in games. One could argue that we have the freedom to mod our games. However, if it’s an online game to gain an unfair advantage that may come into play. This resulting in cheating.

I am still trying my best to research this.. but I do see what Epic is going for, but this goes too far.
