I think the most powerful thing about Medusa's story is that in modern times, it has taken on a much different lesson to the one it had so long ago. Whereas before, Medusa's story was used meant to objectify women and dehumanize their suffering as a result of their beauty, it now is a cautionary tale about that former culture and how it must be changed. Medusa deserved so much better, and we know that now.

But mortals took it the wrong way and labeled Medusa as a monster because she was defending herself. And due to the misunderstanding she was beheaded.
