In this video, I will be sharing one of my favorite techniques to import and export data between Microsoft SQL Server and other database systems, data files, or external data sources using Microsoft Access.

Microsoft Access, one of my favorite application development platforms. Microsoft SQL Server, my favorite database system. However, one of the biggest drawbacks with SQL Server is the hassle to import and export data from the database system. Fortunately, Access, being one of the Microsoft products, make a great tool to import and export data between multiple database systems, files, or data sources.

You could also just create and save a delete query (to delete all the current records (basically "TRUNCATE" in SQL Server)) and an append query (to add whichever columns you want) and run them whenever. Or create a macro to run both of these in sequence.

In my experience if the file imported into Access is large, then using SSIS to pull file from Access into SQL server is much faster.
