So first, great video!
Also: the live oak tree was used for ship building because of it's absolute beastly strength. The curved or bent parts coming directly off of more straight parts are called a 'grown knee'. Those parts were often used for supporting the decks of wooden ships.
Fun fact: USS Constitution was built from live oak, and her moniker 'old Iron sides' wasn't because there was any iron sheathed upon her, it's because when the British fired cannon at her, it literally bounced off!
