There are several live oaks (Quercus virginiana) growing in Philadelphia, including a few at the University of Pennsylvania. It is believed that the urban heat island effect, which makes the city a few degrees warmer near buildings and infrastructure, in addition to a warming climate, is helping southern species grow better up north.

Crepe Myrtle normally wouldn’t grow in New York but the last 20 years I’m starting to see a lot of them . I always loved the crepe Myrtle that grew around my grandmother’s property down south

Those leaves look more like Texas Live Oak (Quercus Fusiformis) which is more tolerant of cold temperatures. We had a lot of Southern Live Oaks die in Louisiana a few years ago when we experienced some of the coldest temps I have ever seen in my 47 years. So, I would say settle down on the Southern Live Oak planting in Pennsylvania!
