2022 Toyota Tundra Capstone | Toyota’s First Hybrid Truck. Making a debut on the 2022 Tundra’s lineup, the Capstone edition is the first Toyota Hybrid truck that is packed with upscale amenities and innovative technologies. Spacious enough for a crew of five people, this full-size pickup truck runs on an all-new 3.5L Twin-Turbo V6 hybrid powertrain. Designed for light-duty deployment, the Capstone model has a four-door CrewMax cabin and a 5.5-footbed.

Toyota Tundra Capstone Performance: The 2022 Tundra Capstone harnesses up to 437 total horsepower from the exclusive i-FORCE MAX hybrid powertrain. Featuring an advanced Power Control Unit, the all-new engine generates a maximum of 437 net horsepower. An electric motor and a sealed Nickel-Metal Hydride battery pack form the core of the innovative hybrid system, rated at 583 pound-feet of peak torque. A conventional 12-V starter is installed under the hood of this full-size Toyota pickup truck. Creating ten different gear speeds, an automatic transmission system is synced with the hybrid system. With assistance from the Sequential Shift Logic, the gearbox quickly finds the ideal gear ratio. As the name implies, the Uphill/Downhill Shift Logic facilitates shifting on steep terrains. When enhanced with an optional package, this Tundra hybrid model offers the exclusive Sport and Sport+ modes. When you engage the standard Tow-Haul Mode, you will optimize the trailering capacity at slightly more than 10,300 pounds. This robust Toyota workhorse includes the Trailer Backup Guide system for easy backing up. With cues from the Straight Path Assist, you will easily align the wheels with other reference points.

75k for a pick-up. I'm still not getting used to saying that. Great review as always. Thanks for the informative review Dave

Nice viceo. As the owner of a 22 Tundra, it's a great truck but the early models have some major QC issues. Hopefully this has been solved.

Nice looking truck. I can’t justify paying $70, 000 for this truck

Great video! Sorry, I don’t see 75k on that truck. I wish Toyota would’ve done more with this new Tundra.

The truck industry should smartly adjust prices due to the recent interest rate hikes. 2023/2024 models with better fuel efficiency is what smart buyers are waiting for. My bet…. Q3/Q4 2022 will be telling when it comes to “full size” truck sales.

I refuse to pay the price of a house for a vehicle.

You compared the Capstone to the Limited for towing. Which if not similarly speced you can get various numbers. If you compare them apples to apples, the difference in towing isn't that great. Like the 1500 Silverado tows less equally equipped. Chevy crew cab with 4wd can only tow 8900lbs. Most of the Rams line up tow less. Ford's 1400lbs comes only with the 2wd option and everyone knows 2dw is a kick in the nads.

$75k for this when you can pick up a 22 Lexus GX460 with full time 4wd and a V8 for $60k???. I’ll get the GX anyday. Much better built too…made in Tahara, Japan!. I guess people see things differently!.

I have a 02 Tundra Limited V8 and 14 Avalon Love them both. I understand fuel consumption concerns, but a full-size truck without a V8 option is not realistic nor is slapping turbos on every new vehicle without a strong V6 option. Toyota is known for reliability. I have a hard to believing this fact will continue considering. Just take a look how hard Honda has fallen.
