In this video, we compare two popular degrees, a Cyber Degree and IT Management Degree. Many people want to know which one is harder and which one is easier. If you are thinking about studying cyber or IT management, this video is for you.

First, we look at the Cyber Degree. This degree is known for being challenging. We talk about the subjects you will study, like network security, encryption, and ethical hacking. You need to have strong technical skills and be good at solving problems. Many students find this degree hard because it requires math and computer science knowledge.

Next, we discuss the IT Management Degree. This degree is considered easier by many people. It focuses more on the business side of technology. You will study subjects like project management, IT strategy, and business communication. While you still need some technical knowledge, the focus is on managing people and processes. This degree is a good choice if you are interested in leading teams and working with technology in a business setting.

We also compare the career prospects for both degrees. A Cyber Degree can lead to jobs like cybersecurity analyst, network engineer, and ethical hacker. These jobs are in high demand and often come with good salaries. However, they can be stressful and require you to stay updated with the latest technology trends.

On the other hand, an IT Management Degree can lead to roles like IT manager, project manager, and business analyst. These jobs involve more leadership and management responsibilities. They are also in demand, especially in large companies that need to manage their IT resources effectively.

By the end of this video, you will have a clear idea of the differences between a Cyber Degree and an IT Management Degree. You will know which one is harder and which one might be easier for you. This will help you make an informed decision about your education and career path.

Most of my CIO’s have no degrees in IT. mathematics, philosophy etc it doesn’t matter what your degree is in it’s just a box HR checks off

I transferred into WGU with an AA and a couple of certs. Ended up finishing my BSIT in 1.5 months.

I’m going to get an associates degree in cybersecurity first and get the Comptia trifecta.

Was facing this exact choice - ended up getting a helpdesk role, doing the BSITM during this time, and now im working on adding certs and upskilling before looking for jobs again. 🐐 Josh

I work 60 hour a week, have a family, and have zero experience in IT. The ITM degree is not that easy. Realistically if you don’t have tons of free time it will take at least a year.

Great Advice as Always Josh.
I am doing the Cybersecurity Masters though. I already have the IT Management experience. ✊🏼😅

Great video, very informative. I just graduated with my BSIT from NCA&T. If I cant find an IT job, my degree can still be used for management positions in another industry 🤷‍♂️

I think their B.S. in Information Technology is a excellent alternative to the IT Management degree. You can earn them both in a short amount of time but B.S. in Information Technology provides an excellent starting point in regards to baseline knowledge and experience.

I have a BSIT with 4 comptia certs & 4 years exp. I want to do Masters (to break the glass ceiling) but cannot decide on which. I was advised by others in the field that I may get further with the WGU MBA IT Management but may be confined to only certain jobs that I may or may not even get with the MScCIA. What do you think about this?

Thank you for the advice and speaking of which, I also need an advice deciding what course to follow. I was sure I wanted to go with Cybersecurity since I already have some certificate (A+, Network+, Server+, Security+). But recently I am having doubt and find myself changing my mind and instead choosing Cloud computing. Which field would be better for me, as I am looking for something that wouldn't give me trouble finding a job and pays well?

Usually in tech jobs (in my case cyber security roles)
These  roles have a section that ask for a comp Sci degree or an IT degree or “related field “ degree.

My mba is of “information technology management “ . Not knowing any better….( that this MBA of IT MANAGEMENT won’t satisfy the “IT degree “ or “ related field “ degree) I enrolled in a 2nd masters degree program that is specifically in cyber security.

My question is :
Do you think that MBA OF IT MANAGEMENT will “check the box”?

Will most recruiters say or believe that  it satisfy that education section ?

I have the ITM and then I got an MBA from WGU. But to be honest, it is not that easy for the ITM if you do not have any business acumen.

I already have a bachelors degree (non-IT related), do you think I should just go for the masters in Cyber at WGU or should I get another bachelors but in cyber?

How about general IT degree? If I already have Sec+, should it be easier than IT management?
