I keep seeing people say that you should only pursue cybersecurity if you have a passion for it - I don't, at least not yet. The problem is that waiting to find my passion has led be nowhere but working retail at 27 for chumpchange. What I do have passion for is finding stability, which I hope will be enough.

Great content Sandra.
As a Cybersecurity professional, be good at what you do. Many people enter into cybersecurity without consideration for the complexity or level of effort involved, only the
Kudos to you great job.
Looking forward to more of your content.

Awesome content and very encouraging - Thank you.
I have been retrenched for 7 months, sick and tired of getting smashed in the face by "...we regret to inform you that..." type-of-emails from employers after shit tons of emails. With an age of 46 years, coupled with a recognised degree in infosystems and info management, along with an MBA from UK, I have also started my certification path. A+, CC, CSSP, CISSP, Google CyberSec Pro Cert etc, and have also tweeked my CV towards a Cybersec theme. Also mentally prepared to get a 70% of pay cut just to get my feet into the industry. All the companies, even the most basic entry levels, asked for 3 years experience LOL...I must admit, its quite a downer so far, but I am not giving up. Keep up with the tips and transparent sharing - loving it! 🙂

wow, thanks for this video. I know I definitely know I'm not meant for this career because my mind literally flew 🛫 into another world. If I can't stay on track for this video, I am not meant for this career.

Great content Sandra. Would you recommend prioritizing GIAC certifications over others? SANs really pushes those being the better certs. Would love to hear your thoughts.

It is worth to jump straight into from a service desk position? I'm starting to believe that there is a way for everyone and if you have a lot of experience in IT you should be careful how you decide to move into, how you handle your daily work, the information you have and where are your strengths and weaknesses.
What do you think about it Sandra?
Cheers!

No tech experienced but am looking for career change. Any entry level tech job with no tech experience you recommend to get foot in the door?

Thank you, Sandra. I came upon your video because I have started Black Genius Academy, and this video is a recommended watch for those who think they may be interested in cybersecurity. You briefly mentioned compliance analyst for the Government. I think I may want to explore this avenue. Is the certifications needed the same? Like could I get an A+ certification and work my way toward a compliance analyst role?
Be well.

Sandra, I’ve been meeting different professionals on LinkedIn, and they seem pessimistic about me being able to get into the cybersecurity sector. Are there any personality traits or things that can help me know if this is right for me? I’m having a hard time finding my way into and throughout this space.

Imagine being 28 having been a licensed barber for 11 years and athlete as well since a kid. Having gone through a tragic accident that left me quadriplegic and now trying to get into school and going for a major in CS minor in cybersecurity (or vice versa) to then try and land a job in cybersecurity 4years from now 😅
People tell me I’m late and wat not (more discouragement). But hey, tell me I’m crazy and should back out, I guess I will.

Well My classes are already registered and I start in a few days 😅 crazy huh 😮‍💨

Cybersecurity will grow and be more in demand by 33% from 2022-32 so at least that’s a plus. But the career change is wat has me just overwhelmed and overthinking 😞

I’m starting a bootcamp within a few weeks for CyberSecurity, hoping that i can get somewhere in my career. I know that after i’ll have to put in more effort into learning more languages such as Python.
