I'm in my late 30's making a career move. I've been debating whether to do the certs or go back to school. I'm also a Veteran, and the VA is covering the costs for me to head back to school. The University I will be attending is backed by the NSA and a lot of government personnel attend as well. Deep down, I don't want to and want to get the certs, but I know with the University it comes with connections. Sometimes, it's not what you know, but who you know.
