Insert the needle more than once !!! Best practice is to get it right first time. Some Medical staff doing this procedure have very little knowledge or experience . Be very firm about who is doing your puncture. Many patient end up in severe pain after nerves being hit and damaged to say nothing of the horrible headache this procedure causes. You have to suffer it for a number of days ( along with back and neck pain, nausiia etc) before they will do a blood patch. If you have long term bad effects from this procedure you are on your own. They will deny your pain is anything to do with the lumbar puncture. Be warned, this is not a simple benign procedure, its your spine they are sticking needles into.

i had it done last year for possible infections like ms, meningitis, i had maningitis.
