As a Florida Divorce Lawyer, one of the most important responsibilities I have is to prepare my clients fully for trials and mediaitons. It is important that clients are prepared for mediation. This is not accomplished with a 10-minute phone call the night before a mediation. It is important for divorce attorneys to meet with their clients in person to prepare a game plan for mediation and to make sure that all issues will be addressed at mediation. For instance, are all assets and debts addressed? Is there a parenting plan? Is life insurance discussed?
If you are going through a divorce, and you have a mediation coming up and your divorce attorney has not scheduled a meeting, call your attorney and set up a face-to-face meeting (even if the mediation will be by Zoom) to discuss the mediation. It is not a good sign if your own family law attorney will not take the time to meet with you in person.
