Better Call Saul is the prequel to the award-winning series Breaking Bad, set six years before Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) became Walter White's lawyer. When we meet him, the man who will become Saul Goodman is known as Jimmy McGill, a small-time lawyer searching for his destiny, and, more immediately, hustling to make ends meet. Working alongside, and often against, Jimmy is "fixer" Mike Erhmantraut (Jonathan Banks), a beloved character introduced in Breaking Bad. The series will track Jimmy's transformation into Saul Goodman, the man who puts "criminal" in "criminal lawyer."

I like how Saul thought he might be able to discourage them from hiring him by establishing a high fee and Lalo just paid him straight out of his pocket

The way he says “maybe later” after the swallowing condoms filled with heroin line makes me laugh every time.

Lalo knows talent and potential when he sees it. Anybody who can talk Tuco down like that is useful.

I love how Lalo is immune to Saul’s “charm”

“You’re the guy with a mouth.” One of the few times Lalo wasn’t putting on the fake charm, but it was still somewhat of a compliment haha.

Lalo is a chef, ninja, business man, a detective, bilingual with a shiny smile. The man is a complete package

I love how Lalo seems genuinely amused by Jimmy.

Also, the lighting in this scene looks amazing.

Lol the face Lalo does when he thinks to himself "$7, 925 and my budget is an endless supply of cash" 🤣🤣

The nervous “I hadn’t noticed” from Jimmy when Lalo mentions Tuco’s temper might be my favorite line of the entire series

I love how Lalo pretends to consider the $7, 925 when he probably makes ten times that whilst sleeping

I love seeing the earliest version of Saul. He is trying everything in his power not to work with these *very* illegal business, coming up with a value that sounds absurdly large for him, $7925. Four years down the line, we see the more experienced and cold-hearted Saul doing the opposite, charging $80k from Walt and Jesse just to keep Badger from being killed, which was his original intention.

4:10 I love that Lalo counts in spanish, this detail shows that he always "thinks" in his native language.

I love how Lalo is still a man of honor. When Jimmy initially turns it down, Lalo stands up, it's a subtle way of using his position to slightly intimidate Jimmy into persuasion, but he alleviates that tension immediately with his charisma, by opening his arms palms out and smiling and positively reinforcing Jimmy's talent. It's a nice little mind trick of playing on Jimmy's ego. But then when Jimmy starts talking price, Lalo sits back down and goes more on the attentive side, another way of alleviating the tension, implying that he's listening and open to negotiation. I love that they wrote him more as a calculating manipulator rather than just relying on intimidation.

“The Tuco I know would have skinned them alive”… he really knows Tuco well. That was the first thing Tuco said he was going to do.

“How’s your lovely abuelita?”

That look from Lalo tells that she most likely passed away, and Tuco wasn’t there because of Mike and Nacho. Notice too that Lalo immediately changes his tone afterwards.

Writing like this should be Standard for shows and movies. So much Detail from the actors and shots it’s unreal.

I still want to see a Salamanca Family Christmas Special. Can you imagine all those psychos sitting around the dinner table telling war stories.

“For your trouble, let’s make it eight” 🤣 I love Lalo.

I find it absolutely hilarious that Jimmy thought 8 grand would be too much for a cartel boss.

I like how Lalo is like "You managed to convince Tuco NOT to skin them alive/worse, you must be special. You're hired" lmao.
