I just Googled this and went to the first video that popped up about this topic. Making this comment without watching video so this may or may not go in-line with what I say. Term Okay boomer used to be something that some of my older family members used to say to one another as a kinda playful insult when one said something annoying or a wild idea without thinking it through. And it was a thing that family members used to say to their next generation up who were baby boomers as the standing joke back then was that they all had wacky ideas sometimes that they did not think through. Late 50s, 60s and 70s would be a baby boomers age right now. And I have no idea why that phrase just popped up again within recent years.
So people using it today saying "okay boomer" are using a sarcastic phrase that went out of trend almost 25 years ago but for some reason is coming back. odd though cuz now calling someone with a zany idea "boomer" would likely not be relevant to almost anyone online as the people who it originally applied to are in rocking chairs or are dead from old age. A very small % of posters are actual baby boomers so the phrase is now almost entirely irrelevant. So if i were a baby boomer, then saying "okay boomer" to me if you did not like my comment would be relevant but I'm not, so it isn't.
