What Does 'OK Boomer' Mean

Показать описание
Ok Boomer is a popular meme that has been floating around the internet recently.

This meme, typically used by younger Millennials and Generation Z, has gained more and more popularity as it has been used more frequently on social media. The target of the meme are obviously, Baby Boomers.

In this video I am going to dive deep into each generation’s economic/financial “background” so that we can determine the true meaning behind the “Ok Boomer” meme.

There are Tik Tok videos featuring the hashtag #OkBoomer, YouTube Videos with Ok Boomer, and even songs dedicated to Ok Boomer.

This video is on the longer side, but I think it’s necessary to better understand the profile of each generation to understand where they may be coming from.

I address the Baby Boomers, Gen X’ers, Millennials, and Gen Z Zoomers to uncover what motives they may or may not have behind using this popular meme.

If you are interested in hearing my own opinion, feel free to fast forward to 16:01 into the video.

Enjoy...no matter what generation you might be a part of!

I'm 17 and don't get why tik tok is so famous. Literally everyone at my school has that app. And I never knew the ok boomer thing came from there. But then again I'm not surprised. This world is a whole entire meme circus lol.

I feel so sorry for gen z generation I’m a millennial 38 years old 1981 and all my success came from gen x and boomers advice . Plain and simple listen to your elders they have lived it before you .

The firm hand shake still works, a lot of my friends were having a hard time finding a job via online application; I just walked in, talked to the employer and I had the job. Personal interaction is becoming a rare commodity and can set you apart from the people waiting for the algorithms to pick them. You can't wait for life, you have to seize it.

I'm a Gen X and I think many older people struggle to understand the new world we live in and don't realize you can't do everything just as you did before. Your job interview example was perfect. They are still trying to raise a kid for a world that no longer exists. They are too quick to categorize the younger generation as a lazy and wanting everything for free, when in fact, that's just a lazy cop-out. Great video.

As a younger investor I am always open to hearing what older generations have to say and listening to their life experiences. I often learn so much that I can then apply to my current life and goals. The key is we should all be open to listening to what others have to say. Using immature phrases like "Ok, Boomer" are not helping anyone.

Another huge influence on GenZ and Millennials is that many of us are children of divorce, and we've seen what that can do to our parents financial health/retirement goals.

Boomer checking in, your parents did a good job instilling life’s lessons.Yes I still cash my paper check at the bank. I used to cash it a the neighborhood tavern in my youth. Thanks for detailed explanation on the generations. Very intriguing, I will check in again. New subscriber.

Marco I'm a boomer that watches your channel and I've reused foil haha! And yes cash is still king with me. Netflix? What's that? lol. I paid cash for my last used car. I bought a house below what I could afford and paid it off in 20 years. Maybe I have beliefs from the generation before the boomers and perhaps those are some of the reasons I can retire comfortably before 60 (well in a SE Asia county at least) Interesting video and you are absolutely correct in saying that the digital revolution has brought us apart in some ways and not closer together.

Millennial here, 94', was raised by boomers and gen X, I'm glad it happened that way, I see some of my fellow gen members doing really bad.. all I know is the teaching of these people will make me very wealthy in my later years. Great video sir!

Thanks Marco, now you've made me feel like a train wreck 😂 I'm boomer age but display many millennial habits. However I do fully believe in one boomer ideal, the world owes you nothing, you've got to get an education or learn a trade to make it in the world. "ok boomer"

As a Baby Boomer I enjoyed this topic. This was so interesting I had to stop folding my used foil and listen. Well said Marco!

Every generation is exactly the same, they just have different tech and their own challenges For reference I'm an Xer born in 76 and my dad is silent gen born in 25. He grew up in a house with one light bulb (no shit) and that was high tech. I grew up with cable TV and Monday Night Fooseball. My kids have Chromebooks...the key is we all have challenges and we all advance forward. While you might think the dollar was worth more back in 1925, my dad escaped the tyranny of socialism (aka poverty) of his home country so be could work his ass off for us. Good vid Marco!
