For the first time a platform has been towed to shore, upgraded and towed back to the field for further production. 22 March 2022 we started the tow of the Njord A platform from Stord on the west coast of Norway to the field at Haltenbanken on the Norwegian Continental Shelf after an extreme make over at Aker Solutions at Stord.

The platform has been upgraded for another 20 years of production. Upgrading, life extension and development of existing fields is a major contribution to maintain long-term secure energiy deliveries to Europe.

There’s still 175 million barrels of recoverable volumes in Njord & Hyme reservoirs and the upgrade also made it possible to the develop the Bauge and Fenja discoveries, developed in parallel with the Njord upgrade.
