Hello there! This is the "Sounds American" channel.

This is an advanced exercise to fine tune your pronunciation of the American sounds /r/ and /l/.

Pronunciation of the American /r/ sound is tricky for the majority of non-native English speakers. The /l/ consonant can be challenging as well, especially for those people who don't have this sound in their native language.

In our previous videos, we've already practiced these sounds. The next step toward speaking with an American accent is practicing them in words with BOTH /r/ & /l/.

You'll likely find it difficult, but you'll love the results.

[Pronunciation exercise]
This is how it works.
You'll see a word on the screen and hear its pronunciation. Like this.
Repeat each word after the speaker. Go slowly and try to copy the pronunciation as best you can. Pause if you need more time.
Let's begin.

• relax
• reply
• rifle
• truly
• rattle
• really
• relief
• drizzle
• laundry
• problem
• rapidly
• realize
• relieve
• replace
• trouble

You're done! Congratulations!
Take a break, get some rest and come back soon.

Stay tuned on our Sounds American channel!

Based on the title, I had hoped to find words like "surely", "spectacularly" or "particularly" in this vid. Anyway, great practice, just a bit simpler than I would imagine an advanced exercise to be. Thank you guys, you are my all-time favorites!

Great video! Congrats!
Do you have plans for a video approaching the dark-L sound? This would be very useful?

It's such an awesome channel. But It's pretty tough to develop your pronunciation to advanced. We're in need to this App please

'Rural'... that's all I'm gonna say 🙄😁 Best channel concerned with pronunciation I've come across. I've been trying to copy the way Americans speak and sound for years, but I've noticed that certain sounds are more elusive than others. Do you honestly believe that it gets better with practice? Asking for a friend here 😆 Greetings from Athens, Greece!

The way I know for dividing such a word "rattle" into syllables should be done like this /rat.tle/, while the syllables that are presented to this word in your video is /rat.l/. This confuses me. It seems that I am missing out some rule here. could you please advise?

There were few words with "flap T". It might be confusing for those who haven't encountered with it yet (I would recommend to get acquainted with the video on this channel about "flap T").
P.S. I miss you☺ Are there any forum or something where people like me could discuss pronunciation issues and, perhaps, new ideas for future videos?

I don't understand how to use this video with the microphone. It says you're on the air, but I'm really not. How does this help me? Help me understand how to use it.

First of all, Merry christmas and Happy new year .
second of all, informative and unique as usual, thank you very much .

Also, as usual i have a question, and your feedback is really needed
i have noticed that the way i say any two words have the letter " T"
is kinda weird . and the problem i can not figure what exactly am i
doing wrong ?!
probably word stress or rythm, i do not know
so i have recorded myself saying these sentences
"about it ", "look at it ", " of it "

please if you can listen to it, and tell me exactly what am i doing
wrong, ALSO I NEED TO KNOW WHAT SOUNDS I NEED TO FOCUS ON TO PRONOUNCE SUCH A PHRASES MORE NATURALLY
because even though it supposed to be simple i cant get it
thanks IN ADVANCE.

I can say almost all american sounds are presented in Amharic language.
