2005 XC90 V8...still love it in 2021. My wife will not let it go. Ruby Red with wide 19” custom wheels and tires. Great car.

I love my XC90. It’s my daily driver and I wouldn’t trade it for any of the newer stuff. Maybe a newer XC90 but after seeing some of these tests, it’s made me such a confident driver on the roads knowing that I’m driving one of the safest cars ever produced!

My mom and granny were in a Volvo S80 travelling at forty mph when suddenly they had a collision with a VW Transporter travelling at 80mph! My mom and granny survived with no injuries! God bless Volvo!

Not only safe but reliable. I had a 2010 xc60, it got t-boned by another xuv doing about 60kmh, now got a 2015 xc60 with over 200k, fully serviced and still looks like new inside. My brother driving his 2nd xc90 in this 1st generation model loves it. He also has a new bmw x3, but prefers the volvo on long trips as feels safe and more confort in the xc90. Mum still got a 240 gle bought new in 1984 and still going. Her mechanic wants to buy it fromher coz he races in charity rallies and said all the xars that compete seem to fall apart except for the volvos.

The XC90 is/was a very safe car - but quite expensive to own and repair. One thing to know is the shape was unchanged from 2002-2014 HOWEVER structural changes were made in 2010. The 2010-2014 XC90 have better crash safety especially in the small overlap shown at 1:08. Even so, before these changes the XC90 was already a safe car.
