Building a rocket might be easier than installing EndeavourOS on Raspberry Pi

Using a Raspberry Pi shouldn’t be complicated.

EndeavourOS is a new Linux distribution available for Raspberry Pi. Based on Arch Linux, the installation is a bit different and less straightforward for beginners. Even for me, it took me a lot of time to get it right, but I learned a lesson and will share my tips with you in this step-by-step guide.

There is no image of EndeavourOS available for Raspberry Pi. The first step is to boot on EndeavourOS for PC to install a base image of Arch Linux on an SD card. Then scripts are available to install EndeavourOS on top of it.

The official documentation is not very clear for beginners, but don’t worry, I’ll explain all the steps in detail throughout this tutorial ad you’ll get it running on your Pi in no time!

------------------------------------
Commands I use:

Step 1:
mkdir temp
cd temp

Step 2:
./RPi4-test-kernel-2

Step 3:
cd install-script

Install TkPacman:
sudo pacman -Syu
pacman -S tkpacman

Thanks! Very informative video.

As for not very beginner-friendly guides I feel like EndeavourOS was never meant to be used by beginners. That's why Manjaro exists, but after a while when you become accustomed with Arch and you get more familiar with command line you start to realise Manjaro also has its drawbacks (it's also arch based but not nearly as customizable and fast as EndeavourOS). EndeavourOS is pretty bare bones and highly customizable, it can be great for more advanced users who want to get full control of their systems.

I have been looking and I might be wrong but to me you are the only tutorial for the raspberry Pi.

Thanks for sharing this! I tried it before but couldn't get it working myself... Do you know, does it properly support the 8gb Pi4? (My USB Ports on my 8gb Pi4 haven't worked on vanilla arch before)

I wouldn't mind if Endeavour's team just followed the same route as the others and had flavors already prearranged. They already handle Arch better than Manjaro, which often juggles between kernel issues (what I've faced mostly) and the occasional GPG hiccups... More-so than pure Arch. Endeavour is also great at marketing its more terminal-heavy environment than most other distributions, calling it an "adventure".

Yay is not a newer version of Pacman, let me explain:
Pacman downloads officially curated packages from your mirrors
Yay downloads user-made software from the Arch User Repository.
