This worked for my usb, the reason why it worked is because the write protection happened on the same computer I used this fix on. Thank You.

Yeah, that didn't work at all, still says, ''The disk is write protected" if I try to format it.

Thank you very much, I followed all the steps, and the strangest thing that it tells me in "Read-only": No, but in "Current read-only state: Yes. I followed the process until the end and it does not let me format, it is still in mode write protection.

My usb is set to:
"Current Read-only state: yes"
"Read-only: No
Cannot be formatted - error message says disk is write protected.
Tried steps with cmd - same info in details, still locked.

Update: it worked only once. When I started copying files to the drive, it accepted a few and then appeared the dreaded warning: "write protected."

So I did it again, and saw at the "detail disk" stage the info "read-only no". I completed the process as shown, though there seemed little point in clearing a disk already claiming to be clear; upon trying to use it, the result above repeated.

So one part of my PC says it's not read-only, another part insists that it is. An enemy hath done this.

Many thanks from the deepest part of my heart. I tried a number of ways to disable my USB write protection, but this one is the only way that worked. Thanks again.

CMD or regedit wouldn't work for me but Silicon Power worked a treat.
It said it had failed also to contact vendor with "code 121"
It then said that it required formatting before use.
Formatted and bingo.
Thanks a million

Thank you so much! Method one worked with me from the first try. You just have to disconnect the USB and reconnect it again.
