How To Uninstall Cortana in Windows 10 | Permanently Disable and Remove

How to permanently disable and remove Cortana. Remove Cortana from the taskbar. Microsofts version of a virtual assistant. This video will overview removing the software via registry editor, powershell, or the group policy editor. Also how to remove Cortana from the task bar and disable it on startup.

One way to Uninstall Cortana is with the powershell:
Get-AppxPackage -allusers Microsoft.Windows.Cortana | Remove-AppxPackage

If you're going to do this is recommend you use a non-Microsoft browser, like Firefox or Chome. As Cortana is heavy integrated in the Edge web browser.

I did ALL of these, correctly mind you, and the Cortana process is STILL running!

I keep right clicking on it and selecting 'end task', it disappears for a brief second and then just pops right back up! It's eating up way too much memory for something I don't even want!

Have you found a way to disable the Win+C shortcut that summons the cortana window anyway (asking you to sign in) even though you disabled it? It takes up the mistake space of commonly used key combos like win+v and and win+x and it's super annoying because the popup window is that weird undismissable window

I just retired my old Dell GX 520 tower with Windows 7 and Linux LMDE 5 32 bit dual boot. I recently got a used (new to me) Dell T 3620 WS and installed Windows 10 pro for the first time. I had no idea it came with so many programs that I don't need, or want and that Windows had become so much more intrusive. Got rid of Edge, now thanks to this video Cortana will be gone and so will One Drive, Telemetry etc. Thanks for sharing you knowledge and expertise, liked and subbed.

Thank you. Cortana was driving me insane. I don’t even have the button on my task bar and it was still randomly popping up. I have no idea how. I used the task manager to disable it for good!

I used Revo Uninstaller to remove Cortana, but I still have registry entries that won't let me remove using Regedit. How do I remove those entries entirely?

In de Local group policy editor, windows templates... I don't have the "search" carpet. And the previous methods didn't work

I can't find the Local group policy editor. Every time I look for it the options end up being search internet and it automatically opens up windows edge which I absolutely despise!
