Waiting Mode is a crippling paralysis with ADHD that leaves us frozen, a crippling couch lock, that leaves us unable to work on the things we want to work on, or make the most out of our day. ADHD waiting mode is caused by a combination of executive dysfunction, anxiety, and time blindness that leaves us twiddling our thumbs. As a PhD student at Oxford University, I've developed a number of strategies to help me manage my ADHD better. In this video, I share the 5 strategies that have helped me most with managing my adhd waiting mode/.

Dude, I never knew there was a name for it. It's awful, if I'm expecting a phonecall, or a delivery I just can't do anything. And I'm not just talking about be productive, I can't watch TV, play a video game etc. Thanks for the video.

It can be days for me, not just hours to overcome.

Segmenting the day is something I have started thinking about
But navigating through 'waiting mode' is so brilliant. Made me cry. Never knew about 'waiting mode' though I experience this EVERY DAY.

We used to call on the phone to make an appointment, we got the receptionist on the phone, she made an appointment or connected us to the right person.
Now we call and the receptionist wants our phone number and somewhere in eternity the right person will call back.

I am in the 'I make an appointment now' mode NOW and want this task to be finished, but they let it open.
I think people with ADHD should be able to say this adn tell them we are not able to continue our day until they have called.
Plus, while calling them about a bill, I don't have my papers under my arm when I am in a lunchroom and they call back. When they call back it's never convenient.

Great stuff man!
Also you have such a soothing voice, you should try to narrate audiobooks as a side hustle.
