I don’t think limitless is about the drug NZT, instead about mindset. “The quote: What I could do with my day was limitless” I believe refers to a mindset where you wake up each morning and know that you can make everything out of it - your day, your life is limitless.

Movie based on Alan Glynn’s novel, The Dark Fields (since retitled Limitless). Drug in the book is called MDT-48. I guess they couldn’t get clearance and renamed it NZT-48. Spoiler: Unlike the movie, the drug is destructive.
