With less than 10 years to go for Agenda 2030 and the SDGs, the world is at a crossroads in 2021. Working together and forming lasting and effective partnerships is now more crucial than ever. Universities engage with the SDGs in multiple ways including teaching, research, leadership, and campus operations. In addition, they are in a unique position to impact local communities and advocate for the pivotal role of higher education in addressing sustainable development to governments.

With a view to accelerating action for UN Agenda 2030, the IAU Global Cluster on HESD fosters university engagement with the SDGs, while also developing new partnerships and generating new knowledge and new cooperation dynamics. With the upcoming UNESCO World Conference on Education for Sustainable Development (17-19 May 2021), now is the time to transform learning s well as our societies to be more sustainable. The webinar panel therefore includes HE leadership, research, and student perspectives. The discussion and its takeaways will feed into the UNESCO ESD Conference and particularly the session on Higher Education that IAU is co-organising.
