Alphas will have red eyes with the exception of zubat. Found that out by accident lol. You'll know it's alpha tho because it's unusually large

The only nonthreatening Alphas are Mantyke and Mantine, both Alphas would be just chilling gliding over the water. You are more likely to be sniped by a nearby Remoraid or five.

I think alpha pokemon are basically the apex predator of any given species, stronger, larger, dominant and highly hostile

With the exception being alpha mantine which is just bigger and won't actually attack you but that's because mantines are friendly by nature
