✏️ Over 6k votes were cast on my community tab for which character should sing this song, and here we are! I love this character parallel for this song, because neither of these heroines needed a miracle - they only thought they did. And the overlapping themes of family and "vision" (one's reflection, outer appearance vs. inner self) ended up giving me a great premise!

I'll be honest, even though I included Mulan as a character option on the poll, I had no idea how tough this song would prove itself to be. 😅 Even though this is my third Encanto rewrite, it was the most difficult for me when it came to the lyrics and storytelling, partly because the musical style is so VASTLY different from anything in Mulan.

Lin's extremely recognizable, ultra-syncopated style is challenging to work with, but Anna Perkins Music CRUSHED this backing track and I think it all came together great!

“All I need is a choice” I feel like the next like could be “all I need is a voice” because not only does it rhyme, but it fits with Mulan, because she had a really hard time learning not to speak in a mans presence seen multiple times, and she values being able to speak up, shown in “a girl worth fighting for”

The lyrics of this are stunning. They are so beautiful and moving, and the vocals behind them expressed such sorrow and regret, but also such power and strength. Perfect for Mulan.

This is a work of art. Mirabel's song fits perfectly with Mulan, and I think that with the other princesses it could also fit in certain aspects, I would love for you to do Let It Go with Isabela

Can you try to re-write “I Wanna be Like other Girls” from Mulan 2 and apply it to the Madrigals? I was thinking it could work for Mirabel, Luisa, and Isabella. But it could also work for Pepa, Julieta, and Bruno.

Mulan is one of my favourite Disney characters. She’s brave and nervous and hesitant but knows what she needs to do and she does it. She leaves behind the perfect image and instead decides to be herself. This rewrite incapsulates her personality so well. Well done!
