✏️ This has been in the works for quite some time! I first worked on these lyrics wayyy back in 2020, when the idea struck me that Ariel spends a good portion of her story literally "speechless." I got sidetracked on other projects for a while, came back recently and revised the lyrics (re-re-wrote about a third of them lol) and here's the finished result! I didn't strictly rewrite this for either the animated or live-action version of The Little Mermaid, so I decided to use clips from both to illustrate the story. I hope you enjoy!

I love the idea of not literally being speechless. I mean, she is for a majority of the film, but actions often speak louder than words, so in that way she isn't speechless.

This hits hard since a major point in the original tale is when the Little Mermaid is at the wedding of her prince, spending it in painful sorrow, knowing that she is destined to turn into sea foam and cease to exist by sunrise.
