This is a video to address some very common questions I get - What's the lowest wattage it can run at? Does it run on cloudy days? Does it need to be reset after it shuts down due to low power? I address all of these questions in this video.

Very informative video, the first one I have seen demonstrating how low of solar power you can actually run down to. Thanks for making these videos!

Thanks for the ac limiter setting information.. I’ll start using that option on my second summer using E4 unit to keep my man shed cool in the Arizona summer months as I unplug unit during winter months as the unit warm up man shed nicely during the day to keep in the warmth during the 12 hours of no power from solar during the winter here in Arizona. Nice video!! Thanks 🙏🏻

I can't afford one right now, but this explanation is what makes me want to buy one, and I will soon. I am off grid in Jamaica and have a little window unit that does OK with the setup I have, but it does require a lot of manual adjustments for me. I will wait until the SOC is at 100%, usually around 11am, then turn it on. Typically when the day is sunny I can go until 4-5PM and still be 100%, then I either turn it off or make up my mind to run on battery into the night. I think I'll get this EG4 mini split and have it run independent of the system I have now, even if I have to get it's own battery, just so I really can run it without any concern about it pulling from my current setup. A big bonus is how low watts it will run at, in sunny Jamaica I see no problem using this unit.

Good information, I actually have this same Hybrid Mini Split from a different company same Mini Split different name. From my experience, AC Limiter only works in Acinput mode ONLY not when Pvinput is using solar. And, The AC Power Limiter feature to get full access of 25%, 50% and 75% of AC Input this feature only works with the hybrid model. Plus, To channel from these three fixed temperature settings can only work off the hand controller using the "Down outlet open/close" button not from the app. Pressing the 'Down outlet open/close" button on the controller, On the wall mount controller head Number "1" is for 25%, Number "2" is 50% and Number "3" is 75%. From my experience this only works in AC input not when mini split is using solar. Which is great, during the night I like using different AC power settings to save on electricity. Then, When the sun is out it automatically draws from solar thus reducing full usage from AC Power.Limiter.

I recommend down loading the Mini Split full version manual from EG4 Electronics, Page 33 explains the AC Power Limiter feature. I'm still learning how to use the Mini Split, it does have some cons but the pros far outweigh the negative. With Summer behind us, currently using as a Heat Pump during the nights and early mornings. It's great! Sometimes I can run it at it's lowest setting during the night and then bump it up to 50% or 75% during the early morning before 3 AM. I'm sure as temps get lower I'll be using full setting to keep the home warm. I'm not trying to warm the entire house, That's imposable with this unit but it will warm a portion of the house or at least the living home or a large bedroom, Good luck everyone and enjoy the Mini Split.

Forgot to add, I'm using four 400 Watt solar panels total "1600" watt setup on my patio on a ground rack mount assigned only for the Hybrid mini-split. And a separate off-grid solar generator setup to power the house with it's own solar panels to charge the solar generator if the Grid was to ever go down for long periods. To make this legal in my county, Had to hire an electrician to install an outside disconnect and its own 20 amp breaker on the outside electrical panel.

That’s some very good information on the mini split. Good job explaining things 👍🏻

I hope you get in on the ground level of these hybrid systems! There is a ton of potential and your videos are awesome to help others. I’m contemplating getting their 24k diy unit if it is as good as you say it is. Especially being in Minnesota.

I installed a 9k pioneer last summer here in my '28 RV. They are super efficient on power and whisper quiet.. There inverter type mini splits were just coming out but expensive as well. I'm saving to buy some land and go offgrid.. looks like I'll be replacing it. After the fact, I want a 12k upgrade.. so it'll work out.

I purchased the EG4 24, 000 BTU unit. with it in A/C inhibitor mode my runs at approximately 750 watts at the peak part of the day, according to the app on my phone.

Thank you, and this was the most informative video on the subject I found on YouTube.
When you mentioned your AC back up, are you talking about your batteries powering it through an inverter? That’s how I would like to do it and then let my actual AC line power kick in when the batteries get weak, if that’s possible.

It would be a great video if you did the same exact test but using the Heat and the power station again LOL

I've been looking at this playlist and I started at your 1 year video for the EG4. I'm doing a "skoolie" build and I think this would be a fantastic solution to my cooling needs over a traditional mini split. I hope you see this because I would love your input on what you would say the Minimum amount of Wattage would recommend dedicating to the EG4. I'm going to dedicate a percentage of my panels for the EG4 then the rest for my battery bank. love your vids you've got a new loyal subscriber now!

This is awesome, thanks. I have been thinking about asking all the questions answered here. I basically have a 2car garage that i don't really want to pay the electricity to heat/cool, but if it's purely *solar*...

it looks like you could run the heat pump plus recharge batteries on 3-4 panels - good look at system!

Great video! Do you have any idea if they are going to produce a unit that runs directly off 48 volts DC?
