Hmm. I've installed 2 separate EG4 systems for my customers. The 1st was an 18K EG4 inverter (outputs 12, 000 watts) with a server rack of 30 KWH storage. The 2nd was an EG4 18K inverter with 2 power pro batteries 14.something kwh (28 kwh total). I love the conduit box. Having the pre engineered knockouts saves lots of time. However, when the second battery doesn't have an inverter over it creates a conundrum about how to cover the knockouts. I put some plexiglass under them inside the conduit box and filled the gaps with clear silicon. Wasn't sure what else to do. The price point is great, but maybe not as great as it might seem since they want you to stop ay 10% or higher state of charge. Other lithium batteries can go all the way to zero. The outdoor version requires unscrewing the side panels to get at the display and breakers. Pretty stupid. I like the indoor version. Not sure I would ever get the 6000 watt version. Just get the 18K (12000 watts). Customer support was pretty good at Signature Solar. But there is alot of horsing around with tech support to get the settings right. Pretty weird. I just want to use the batteries for backup when the power goes out, but tech support keeps setting it so the batteries discharge and charge when the grid is working. Pretty annoying. The value is good, but expect to spend hours dealing with tech support and them tampering with your settings, the voltage going too low and setting alarms, and tech support setting the inverter to drain the batteries to near zero in the middle of the night then acting like it was no big deal.

I would love to see you do a video focused less on solar hardware, and more on the best ways to lower energy consumption with major appliances, like water heaters, air conditioning/heat, laundry units, etc... How to get the best bang for your buck when designing a home with solar in mind.

Thanks! I’m gonna have to pick up this set up. I made a spreadsheet to see the consumption of my electrical use for my house. I’m averaging between 4KW and 6 kW a day. I think this could handle my weekly consumption with cloudy days so cool.
