The translation is good, but if you know russian, the lyrics is much impressive and deeply. I am very like part "and commanders is ahead". This is show that commander is not coward, and lead his troop to the victory or death.

В путь, for those who are wondering, there are many interpretations, as in Russian there are many phrases that will never translate with 100% accuracy, Russian is a much deeper language with many more intricacies, it could mean "Let's go" "To the path" "Forward" or as many Americans may put it, "Let's hit the road." It's not a direct translation, rather the meaning behind it. :)

Put' daliok u nas s toboiu,
Veselei, soldat, gliadi!
V'iotsia, v'iotsia znamia polkovoe,
Komandiry vperedi.

Soldaty, v put', v put', v put'!
A dlia tebia, rodnaia,
Est' pochta polevaia.
Proshchai, truba zoviot,
Soldaty, v pokhod!

Kazhdyi voin - paren' bravyi,
Smotrit sokolom v stroiu.
Porodni... rodnilis' my so slavoi,
Slavu dobyli v boiu.

I teper dla nas nastali
Dni ucheby, dni truda
Chtob potom spokojno rascvetali
Nashi sjola, goroda.

this song is about, war is going on and the army was given orders.the army rallied in a train station, where solders are telling their wives: dont worry, i will send you letters. we are strong enough to hold them back and go home alive. then he aboards and left for frontline. so to be more precise, it should be called 'set off' rather than 'lets go'.
