I remember a similar reaction to Monster Hunter World, people thinking "this is CG, no way the game is like this" and it was. It's kind of nuts that Wilds is able to capture that feeling again.

Crazy to think that Monster Hunter was an underdog IP back when it came out. Definitely ahead of its time because it got critically panned back then. So glad I ignored the reviews and picked it up eventually. Looks like everyone else did eventually too. lol

This franchise is the favorite child of capcom, they wouldn't disrespect it by diverting the original formula, I knew they would only add minor changes and gameplay toppings.
So in hindsight this only gives me hope for the AAA industry in this genre.

I think the Sandstorm is hiding the fact that the location is naturally lush and the sand could be part of some elder dragon's natural disaster effect along with the lightning, maybe even 2 separate dragons or the environment is just unnaturally dynamic in that way, the location just happens to have these rapid shifts making it harsher to live in.
