Can't understand why some people in the USA would be hating on automatic scooters when they own and drive several automatic transmission cars. lol even cvt cars

So here’s my story. I bought a brand new Kymco in 2009. It was 50cc. I loved it. $6 in fuel per week, commuting 50 km everyday. I put 8400 kms in the first and only year I owned it. I found myself longing for a clutch, and gears. So I saved $900 and went through a motorcycle training course. Then I sold my trusty Kymco, which didn’t give me a lick of trouble ever, and acquired a Honda CM450. Then a Honda CB750. Then a Honda GL1100 Goldwing. Then a Kawasaki GTR1000 Concours. Then a Suzuki B-King1300. Then a Honda F6C Valkyrie, and finally a Suzuki DR650. I now have 46000 on the DR, and am thinking about maybe a new Goldwing, perhaps a Honda VFR1200... who knows what my next bike will be. All thanks to a little Taiwanese 50cc scooter.

I lived in Taiwan from 1998 till 2007 and KYMCO was considered to be one of the top brands in the scooter world. Also remember Taiwan was actually a part of Japan for nearly 50 years and had a lot of influence on their culture and business environment. A lot of this shows in their motorcycle/scooter manufacturing.

Nothing wrong with KYMCOS. I worked with a delivery company that had a fleet of KYMCOS! I rode the wheels off those machines!👍

Kymco is parly owned by Honda.
+3000 employes
+ 600, 000 units produced per year.
It is realy professional.
I just got me a xtown 300i.
Super quality, super service by the dealer who is also rep for Honda and Indian, and the biggest mc dealer in Denmark.
I am happy I changed from motorbike to scooter for commuting.
I am 65y old and I prefere to call my scooter a "COMFORT BIKE"
Have a great day.

I think when a lot of people hear 'Taiwan' or that something is made in Taiwan they think sweatshops and they think of all the stories about poor production quality they heard about Chinese products. If that's you, I'd urge you to do some research on the country (or region of China, if you're Chinese). Taiwan has the 22nd highest GDP in the world, ahead of Sweden and Belgium, with a relatively small population of only 25 million people. Their industry focuses on high tech, with big companies you might recognize like HTC, ASUS, MSI and countless others. If they're going to be good at anything, they're going to be good at scooters - everyone in Taiwan rides a scooter, they love them.

I appreciate your sudden enlightenment; but do some research before your next review of a 55 year old company that built almost all of Honda's motorcycle engines through the 1980's.
KYMCO- Kwang Yang Motor Company, makes some of the most reliable bikes in the world. Have some respect and at the very least do your homework before you post such a closed minded opinion on a product that everyone interested in a scooter in the USA should seriously consider!

As a younger guy I love automatic scooters, two of my friends have the stereotypical manual 600cc motorcycles. I'm happy riding my auto 125.

I found out my Kawasaki 360 Praire ATV is built by Kymco and it's very good build guality. Very happy with it. Kymco also builds several engines for BMW motorcycles and others. Great company in my opinion.

We've had a Kymco "People 150" in the family since 2007. Daughter used it for High School and College. Taught her boyfriend how to ride 2 wheels ( they're both Sportster riders now). Thing still runs and is waiting to start the next family member.

My wife owns a Kymco scooter and she really likes it. She can easily keep up with my bike on the interstate. They are not a new company, they were originally part of Honda but split from them in the early 1960's and started the Kwan Yang Motor COmpany, hence KYMCO. They not only continue to make engines for Honda, but other companies, including BMW! They make a couple of smaller bikes, similar to a Gromm or the Kawi 125, but are less expensive since they are manufactured in Taiwan. If you are into scooters, this would probably be a decent buy for you.

I've rode several Kymco 4-wheelers & I was pretty impressed with quality, especially considering the price compared to similar Japanese big 4 bikes in the same class. They are more than competitively priced & generally better optioned & equipped than more established brands.
