To be able to grow and change your mind, and still be able to retain the memory of how you thought before so you can help other people in the same situation you were in is a wonderful thing!

Great interview ❤

I have just started my wild ride as a parent and can certainly relate to Janna wanting what is best for her child. Thank you Janna for sharing so openly. As an ally I am delighted to learn about inclusive pastors making themselves known!! Cody and Janna's story is beautiful and will stay with me. Thank you Brooke!! 🫶

i see so many parents make their transgender kids problems about them. yes it is a confusing thing having a trans kid but its even more for a kid who is not being accepted. this was a great story and i can only hope all trans kids can have such a supportive parent .

Thank this mom for being supportive. She really got it! So many parents don't do this and the kids suffer.

As a mom of a binary kid, it didn’t take me too long to accept it. At first, I felt like I was losing my child but then I realized that was stupid right away. I never gave them hell about any of this, never any fights. Took me like a month to fully adjust to it all. My kid is my kid forever, no matter what. I will never understand parents who give their children a hard time with this. You are supposed to love that child unconditionally, meaning without a reason, especially not a reason that you decided for them.
And there is no way I was going to live through the rest of my life losing my child over that. It’d kill me. My kids have been my whole life.

Thank you so much for sharing, I feel as though you were pulling this out of my life. I am so blessed to be able to say I have a wonderful, creative, talented son. Though it was a struggle at times, we have made it through and are growing daily. Thanks again!

This was really moving. Thank you for sharing :)

I believe we need to have more videos like this, so we can all understand each other better and see that people can move from what seems a completely rigid position, and also how and why that happens.

Do you ever highlight people that change their mind by detransitioning???

Being honest is more important than being kind. The true way to be kind is to help your daughter accept her female existence. Address the underlying issues that are causing her to dissociate from her female body, including misogyny, social contagion and homophobia. There is no credible evidence of increased suicide risk if parents do not allow a social transition. In fact, suicide risk increases about 10 years after someone "transitions" because they realize it hasn't changed their life for the better. The compassionate thing to do is teach children that humans cannot change sex and that they are perfect and loved just the way they are. There is a lot of homophobia in the church that is causing parents to trans their gay children. We know from studies that 90% of gender confused children grow up to be gay adults. Cody was probably a lesbian who used the manipulative threat of suicide that she learned on the internet to gaslight her mother into going along with a lie.
